The Looney Left Is Now Mainstream

PC Commissioner: 'Grooming gangs have been part of our society for centuries and centuries'. Hmm

A generation ago in the midst of a riot at the Broadwater Farm estate in Tottenham, thugs murdered PC Blakelock in the most savage manner imaginable and then tried to hack his head off. 

In reaction to this their local MP, Bernie Grant, became infamous for saying that the police got 'a bloody good hiding'. Many were amazed to realise that an MP could say such a disgusting thing. Had the country declined so much that such low-life was being elected to parliament? But we also drew some comfort from the fact that Bernie Grant was a looney left race-baiter. What else would you expect? But at least he was very much a fringe figure.

Not any longer.

The looney left is now the mainstream.

Take the Metropolitan Police Commissioner, Cressida Dick [Please]. At a recent hearing of the London Assembly Police and Crime Committee she came out against the use of spit guards on the streets of London. These are fine mesh hoods police drag over a spitting prisoner to protect themselves not just against the humiliation of getting drenched in spittle, but also to guard against infections such as hepatitis C.  

The first thing that struck me was the phrase the London police boss used. She said that use of the fine mesh hoods was likely to get those using them 'a good kicking'. A weird choice of phrase at the very least. First because it means 'a deserved beating' and second because of the echo with bonkers Bernie's outburst from years ago.

But of course anybody can misspeak. But then she explained herself.

Apparently while she opposes the use of anti-spit hoods on the streets she approves of their use in police stations because:

'There are several officers present in custody at any one time. There’s always custody officers, plural, and there’s always supervisors, plural, and there’s always dedicated detention officers, plural.'

Or in other words she doesn't trust her own police officers at the sharp end to use the fine mesh guards unsupervised. They only get to use them if several of their colleagues and CCTV is around to confirm their judgment.

Clearly Cressida Dick has a similar contempt for ordinary policemen as far-left Bernie.

The looney-left is now mainstream.
