Britain has finally got serious about cruelty to animals. Gone are the days when you could torture a puppy to death and expect to get off with a slapped wrist or a maximum 3 months* in the clink.
Now in response to public pressure, those maltreating animals can expect up to 2 and a half years* inside to rethink their attitude.
It really makes you proud that in Britain at least the welfare of animals is a high priority. And thank God for all those activists in the RSPCA that have lobbied for this change. God bless you every one! Let's make cruelty to animals a thing of the past.
Of course there is a small exception to the animal cruelty laws. A very minor clause that allows for millions and millions of animals to be slaughtered by having their throats cut while fully conscious. We allow this outrage to cater to the sensibilities of religious Muslims (and Jews).
And then so as to avoid any inconvenience to Muslims, we feed our own children with the meat from this barbaric practice and ignore the moral objections to this policy from decent people.
And this little exception to our animal cruelty laws reminds me of all the other things we do in the name of accommodating Islam:
We have offered up our most valuable and hard-fought-for right. Freedom of speech has been sacrificed to prevent Muslims hearing or reading the truth about their ideology.
Then there's the government's policy of allowing hundreds of psycho-murderers who joined IS to take up their lives where they left off. Apparently Muslims would be upset if these terrorists were punished.
Then there's the indulgence of Muslim rape gangs that have blighted the lives of many thousands of underage British girls.
Not to mention: tolerance of FGM; rewriting our history; boosting Islamic achievements; polygamy; ignoring supremacist Islamic intimidation; bollards everywhere; etc, etc...
If just one bearded buffoon complains about the swirl on a Burger King ice cream cone millions of stock are binned and a new design created.
But I guess the argument goes, if it buys us peace and a results in fewer maimed and murdered innocents on the streets of Britain then it's worth the humiliation and frustration. The government certainly behaves if this was the thinking behind their endless retreat and appeasement.
In short Britain is the most accommodating country on earth to its Muslim minority. In fact, so appeasing and considerate are we that it's a miracle that any Muslim at all feels alienated enough to want to hurt the rest of us.
Confusing then that Gilles de Kerchove, the European Union's Counter-Terrorism Co-ordinator has announced that of the 50,000 Islamic radicals in the EU, 25,000 of them were in the UK alone. How could it be that fully half of the Islamist looney tunes in Europe grew up in Islam friendly Britain?
It turns out that all of our appeasement, surrenders, and accommodations buy us precisely nothing. On the contrary you could make a very strong case that our endless appeasement is actually the cause of Islamic radicalism in Britain.
This, of course, shouldn't surprise anyone out there with more understanding of life than a misty-eyed sixth form idealist.
The worrying and catastrophic news for Britain is that it appears to be governed by thousands of gormless adolescents. It's obvious from what they do that they actually believe that the best way to deal with bullying supremacists is to give them everything they want.
It's almost funny to see the real expressions of pain and disappointment on the idiotic faces of our leaders and opinion formers as the bodies of women and children from the latest atrocity are being discreetly disposed of. They obviously feel wronged by the Islamists they have protected and nurtured in our midst.
But as anybody whose balls have dropped knows, appeasement of supremacists never works. It didn't work with the Nazis and it has never worked with Muslims.
To make Britain an open, free and tolerant society again we must make Britain just as intolerant of Islamism as it is of Nazis. That is not a paradox. Tolerance means civilisation. But there is one logical exception to the value of tolerance and that is the toleration of intolerance.
It's as plain as the nose on your face. But this simple truth is clearly beyond the powers of our leaders and opinion formers.
The first step in the fight back is when the British people realize that it is our leaders who are ultimately responsible for the barbarity on our streets.
Then when they are given the Pétain treatment we can finally deal with supremacist Islam.
