Spineless and Stupid

Cambridge University dons will be forced to replace white authors with black ones after agreeing to 'decolonialise' its English literature course. 

This change was sparked by an open letter from Lola Olufemi, Cambridge University Student Union's women's officer. The current curriculum apparently 'risks perpetuating institutional racism'... blah, blah, blah. You can guess the rest. 

Cambridge is our number one ranked university.

A couple of thoughts.

If there is a more spineless and stupid group of people in Britain than its university professors, I've yet to come across it. 

I'm not suggesting for a moment that there are not ethnic minority authors that could be added to the curriculum. There are several well known and Nobel prize winning authors that have added to the richness of English literature. And indeed I imagine that nobody is more willing to include them than our liberal-left minded professors. But that's not what's happening.

What's happening is that in response to an open letter from a know-nothing activist and signed by a further 150 know-nothing students the university has agreed to substitute the only just and reasonable  criterion for inclusion in the curriculum, merit, for a racist one, i.e., the colour of the author's skin. 

To anybody concerned about academic excellence or academic freedom it should be an outrage. If the professors concerned had the least self-respect they would resign en masse rather than submit to this insult. How can they stand to have this idiocy thrust upon them? 

But they won't resign. They prefer to corrupt themselves because they are spineless. 

And stupid too. Somebody in the comment thread to the story groaned (I'm guessing): "When will this idiocy end?". The answer is, of course, "Never". If the last 50 years of surrender to these leftie-facists has taught us anything, it is this: THEY WILL NEVER STOP. These are not reasonable people that can be placated. It is not about justice, equality or fairness. It's about power. 

Do those dons who submitted to this humiliation not realise that they will never be free again to put together a course of study without ever increasing interference from know-nothing bigots?

To give in now or ever to these bigots is spineless and stupid.
