This is What Real Privilege Looks Like

I'm less interesting than a crummy goldfish!

Here's a story from Gloucester to delight the ears of any self-respecting journalist. It's got everything.

It's weird.

Two sheep were stolen from a sleepy rural hamlet only to be taken to a flat in Gloucester and slaughtered.

It's got human interest.

This from the farmer who lost his sheep: “I was horrified when they told me what had happened. All our sheep are treated like pets. I was very distressed, I didn’t sleep at all that night. It’s so evil."

It's got justice.

Fortunately, the men responsible were spotted by a good citizen and reported to the police. The police then raided the flat. Sadly, they were too late to save the sheep, but they had a witness and evidence in the form of two recently deceased sheep, lots of blood, and five perps.

It's got curious details.

One sheep was found in the bathroom and the other in the kitchen. Hmm.

And here's the killer.

It's got a twist and it's fishy as a tart's minge on a Sunday morning.

After assuring the farmer that they were putting a case together against the men, the police have now dropped the case due to "insufficient evidence".

Wow, that's one hell of a story for page 3 or maybe 5. Why any self-respecting news hound would sell his granny for it.

But, you're never gonna believe this, there's another twist.

Apparently not a single mainstream outlet is interested.

And that's not because it's too trivial.

Jose Cole who swallowed a live goldfish at a Bridgwater fair was splashed all over the BBC, ITV, The Sun, The Guardian, The Daily Mail, and Metro. And that's just the first page of a Google search.

But for my money, five men stealing and slaughtering two sheep in a city centre flat and the police catching them literally red-handed, but then dropping the case is a bigger story than a lout swallowing a goldfish.

Why the lack of interest?

Imagine the leverage these sheep slaughterers have to both shut down a police investigation and kill the media's interest dead?

Now that's what I call privilege.
