All is not as it seems in Iran.

In the world of seeming Iran is off the scale deranged.

We’re all familiar with the mummy’s boys who can be ushered on to the streets of Tehran at the drop of a hat to jump up and down screaming “Death to the Great Satan”. And last week saw a classic tantrum of the genre with even more spit flecked abandon than usual.

But another story from Iran in today’s Daily Mail hints at the existence of a different reality in the Islamic Republic which is entirely overlooked by most western “experts”.

The headline pretty much says it all:

Teen girls 'beat up' Iranian cleric after he scolds one of them for not covering up

And the story itself:

Cleric Hojatoleslam Ali Beheshti told an Iranian news agency that he was walking to the mosque in Shahmirzaad when he spotted the two girls and approached them.

According to his account in an article run by Mehr News Aegency, which is partially government owned, the man allegedly asked them 'politely' to cover up.

'She responded to me by telling me to cover my eyes, which was very insulting to me,' CNN reports he said.

He repeated his request and that was when the girl fought back.

 'She pushed me and I fell to the ground on my back. From that point on, I don’t know what happened. I was just feeling the kicks of the woman who was beating me up and insulting me,' he said according to Radio Free Europe

One of the more humorous aspects of the case is that the cleric refused to give details of his injuries to the court. This suggests to me the delicious image of the prone cleric taking several for the team to his lunch box.

Now that’s my kinda girl!

What an amazing role model she could be for our feminists. A woman who faces real danger in a real patriarchal society, yet has the courage to hit back right where it hurts in the old meat and two veg.

But of course the sisterhood or as I like to term them the dogs that don’t bark won’t even give this tale a sniff of curiosity. That’s because they are not true freedom fighters. Western feminists are now the establishment. And the last thing establishment types  are interested in is a real feisty rebel for the cause.

If our feminists were Iranian born they would be the meekest of the meek in their acceptance of male domination. They’d be burqua-ed up and screaming idiocy outside the US embassy with the bearded buffoons of Iranian orthodoxy.

But enough of the sad sisterhood.

The good news is that the above case is no exception.

Perhaps the best general indicator of women’s liberation is the fertility rate (the number of children borne by the average woman). According to the CIA fact book the average Iranian woman now has just 1.87 offspring. Amazingly, that’s lower than decadent old Britain with a rate of 1.98!

This is the Iran which came out onto the streets to demand reform of their corrupt killjoy system in 2009. And these too were the new young hope of Iran that Obama disgracefully shunned to pander to the misogynist weird beards.

But the ass-kicking real feminists of Iran have not gone away.

On the surface the mummy’s boys parade and chant, but the majority in Iran are sick of the poverty of their religious piety. They want the good life.

Western policy should be four square behind those demanding freedom in Iran. They are our most effective weapon in the fight against Islamism.

And let’s hear it for the babe who planted several on the stunned Islamobore.
