Obscene Contrast

It is the contrast that is obscene.

In April last year, Andrew Ryan, 32 was jailed for 70 days for what the judge described as “theatrical bigotry”. Ryan had burned a Koran in downtown Carlisle, England in front a crowd of bemused onlookers then bragged about it on his Facebook page.

Ryan had been outraged by the sight of British Islamist, Emdadur Choudhury, burning poppies on Armistice Day to protest Britain’s part in the war on terror. This flower is used every November in Commonwealth countries to symbolize the sacrifice of our war dead.  Choudhury’s actions in burning them was a calculated attempt to upset and enrage native British.

In stark contrast to Ryan, Choudhury was fined just 50 pounds for his offence. This in the context of his long history of bigoted behavior.

Then a couple of days ago the UK’s premier Islamist buffoon was at it again, burning an American flag outside the US embassy in London. This in the wake of the bestial murder of the American ambassador to Libya. At least on my own personal scale of offensive behavior, that ranks pretty high.

But does anybody doubt that he will go unpunished for this latest “hate crime”?

Curiously enough, I don’t think we should necessarily be punishing people for burning either flags or “holy” books. The simple reason for this is that in a functioning free society you should be able to express yourself in a non-violent way. And even if it annoys somebody, it is useful for them to know the extent to which their fellow citizens hate them and what they believe in.

In fact, we didn’t use to jail people for being insulting. What has changed in the last two decades is that our justice system is now operating in accordance with the dictates of barbaric sharia law.

There is no other explanation for the difference in treatment of those seeking to upset Muslims and those trying to annoy westerners.

Our Liberal elite think that they are keeping a lid on a volatile situation by penalizing native British.

In reality, though, they are undermining people’s faith in the British justice system. And they are encouraging native Islamism by giving it an aura of invincibility.

Conflict is inevitable between Muslims and westerners because we believe in freedom of expression and they cannot tolerate criticism of their faith.

Embrace that conflict: it defines us.

The alternative is submission, the very meaning of the word “Islam”.
