It's not only "cold steel" that they don't like up 'em
Last
Friday on the White House lawn Obama said something sensible for a change. Who
knows? Maybe he’s growing into the job, finally.
“We will be monitoring the
situation very carefully over the next several days. We will not be sending US
troops back into combat in Iraq. But I have asked my National Security Team to
prepare a range of options…”
He
may be right for the wrong reason, but hey, it’s a start.
The
reason he’s right to rule out US troops is that after 10 years and the best part of a trillion
dollars, America has done all that could reasonably be asked to establish
freedom and democracy in Iraq.
If
30,000 Iraqi government troops, trained and equipped at great expense by the
American tax payer break and run in the face of an attack by 800 untrained
Kalashnikov wielding sadists in Toyotas, there really isn’t any more the US can
be expected to do for them. Those 30,000 surrendered or fled abandoning 72
tanks, 700 Humvees and thousands of tons
of ammunition.
Sure
the Marines could swoop down and annihilate ISIS in two weeks flat. In the
immortal words of the Omdurman veteran in Dad’s Army “They don’t like it up ‘em!” But what good would it do?
There is a point at which you have to accept that Iraqis don’t want freedom and
democracy or at least they don’t want it enough to fight for it.
But
my guess is that the Nouri al-Maliki’s Shiite dominated government won’t fall.
The psychos in the ISIS are not very numerous and have made it very plain that
they’re more interested in sating their bloodlust with thousands of murders than
in toppling the Iraqi government. After this week’s atrocities, loving captured
on video, even the biggest Iraqi pantywaist seeing the consequences of
surrender will fight. So my prediction is that the ISIS will be beaten back to
their mothers bedrooms in Beirut, Riyadh, Tipton and Bradford to dream more
dreams of slaughter.
And
should that happen the Iraqi government will be far more firmly bedded in than
before.
But
even if the Iraqi government does fall to the Islamists it wouldn’t necessarily
be bad for us strategically, however bad it is for them spending the next few
decades fulfilling the snuff movie fantasies of very evil men.
This
is because in addition to not liking cold steel up’em, Muslims don’t seem very
keen on having too much Islam up ‘em either.
My
evidence for this seemingly bonkers statement is the Islamic Republic of Iran.
What better test bed for the joys of Islam that the self described purest
Islamic entity in the world. No country has seen more homosexuals executed or
produced as many candidates for the 72 virgins (more like torture than reward
if you ask me). So it’s curious that it is Iran
of all Muslim countries that should be the most western, where it
counts.
Two
observations:
Iran
has a lower fertility rate than Britain (1.85 vs. 1.9). There is no more
reliable indicator of real liberation of women than a low birth rate.
Iran
is also the only Muslim country that has seen mass demonstrations on the
streets for more freedom. Others demonstrated to remove kleptomaniac tyrants
and replace them with true Islamic governments. The Iranian youth, of both
sexes, demanded an end to the miserable restrictions to their lives in theirs
the most Muslim of states.
Islam
in action is and will always be its own worst enemy. It’s ideology is both
ridiculous and unpleasant.
All
we have to do for our part is keep the good life going over here and the saner
Muslims will vote with their vices.
After
a couple of decades close acquaintance with the joys of Islam, they will come
round.
Poor old Bradford. It used to be such a nice town.
