A Lie That's Told With Good Intent...

Hey, Polak. Get Out!

A couple of weeks ago Cameron said that allowing so many Poles into Britain was a “huge mistake”. This caused uproar in Poland, but as far as it made an impression in Britain it was thought to be an expression of the bloody obvious which passed with little comment apart from those who thought it refreshing to be able to talk about immigration again without being labelled “racist scum”.

The Polish over-reaction was down to the fact that despite all the progress they’ve made the Poles still like to wallow in victimhood at every opportunity.

The British under-reaction though was equally weird. Cameron’s focus on the Poles as an example of what is wrong with immigration was insulting not to the Poles but to the intelligence of the British people.

When it comes to immigration, Poles are just about as good as it gets. A recent survey of welfare recipients in London found that Polish men had the lowest benefit claiming rate of any ethnic group including the native British.

Poles come from a very compatible culture and they come to work. If they stay, and only around half of them do, the next generation will be entirely integrated. Immigration of Poles is good for them and good for us.

Britain does has very serious immigration problems, but they have little to do with the Poles.

But even if they did, Cameron’s second deception is to pretend he can do anything about it. Until we leave the EU, talking about the “huge mistake” of the Polish influx is mere rabble rousing.

Just the other day in another speech on immigration Cameron complimented the British people. A very good sign that he was about to lie. Here’s what he said:

“I think the public attitudes on immigration are sensible and well informed.”

Then the whopper.

"I think the public’s attitudes on immigration, they are not about race, they are not about culture. It's purely about numbers and pressure and making sure that we grip this properly and that’s exactly what I am committed to do.”

Thanks for the compliment, Cameron, and all that. It’s true we are not racist and we do welcome people from all sorts of cultures, but too many migrants from alien cultures is precisely the problem.

And the biggest part of that problem can be expressed in one word: Islam.

In contrast to the hard-working Poles, almost a quarter of Muslims our youngest demographic are on disability benefit. Then there’s the terror threat, honour killings, rape gangs, FGM, first cousin marriage etc, etc, etc...

And in addition to all that the British get the very distinct impression that many of our Muslim immigrants don’t much like us or our country.

The curious thing in all this is that while Cameron huffs and puffs about Polish immigration which he’s powerless to stop, he says nothing about Muslim immigration which he could drastically limit at the drop of a hat.

The vast majority of our Muslim immigrants come from outside the EU.

Simply forbidding the importation of brides below the age of 25 like the Danes do and seriously restricting asylum claims would cut around 50,000 from the annual total.

But whereas lying about the Poles only results in a strongly worded protest from Warsaw, telling the truth about Muslim immigration could see London turned into Beirut.

So Cameron lied about immigration to save us from the truth.

But a lie that’s told with good intent...is still a lie. And the real immigration problem just goes on festering.
