In 1993 Abu Qatada, who was fleeing Jordanian justice for involvement in two terrorist bomb plots, entered Britain on a false passport.
In September 2012, Tommy Robinson (real name Stephen Lennon) leader of the English Defence League (EDL) used a friend’s passport to enter the States to give a speech at the Stop the Islamization of Nations (SION) conference.
Qatada’s passport crime, in common with tens of thousands of other illegal immigrants, was not punished. Perversely, he was rewarded by being given permission to reside in the UK.
On return from his one day trip to the States, Robinson was imprisoned in solitary confinement and denied bail for three months . On January 7th, 2013 the EDL leader was sentenced in Britain to 10 months for his offence against US immigration.
In the 90s Abu Qatada became booster-in-chief of the GLA in Algeria. This terrorist group murdered between 150,000 and 200,000 people mostly by the halal method of cutting their throats (fully conscious , of course, so they would hear “God is great” as their life blood decorated the faithful).
At the SION conference in America, Tommy Robinson affirmed his belief in multiculturalism and the anti-racist position of the EDL.
In 1999 at Finsbury Park mosque, Qatada called for Americans to be attacked and said that the British were no better than Jews whom he has previously called to be killed.
Tommy Robinson was a football thug who has been convicted of using “threatening, abusive or insulting behaviour” and sentenced to community service and banned from football grounds.
In February 2001 Abu Qatada was arrested by anti-terror police over his involvement in a plot to bomb Strasbourg Christmas market. Officers found £170,000 in cash in the house of this penniless recipient of benefits, including £805 in an envelope marked ''For the mujahedin in Chechnya''. The benefits never stopped flowing.
Robinson was arrested after an EDL demonstration in Tower Hamlets in September 2011 for “breaching bail conditions” and held in custody for a week without charge.
Abu Qatada has never contributed financially to Britain, a country he despises. On the contrary, to date he has cost the British taxpayer north of £3m in benefits, legal fees and security.
Tommy Robinson is a self-employed businessman.
Qatada has been described by a Spanish judge as “Osama Bin Laden’s right hand man in Europe”. Copies of his hate-filled tirades were found among the effects of a 9/11 hijacker.
Tommy Robinson co-founded the EDL in response to officially tolerated intolerable attacks and insults directed at our soldiers returning from Afghanistan.
The police have responded to threats and demonstrations against Qatada by extending him round-the-clock protection at a current cost of £100,000 a month.
The police have responded to the several credible threats of murder against Tommy Robinson and his family not by offering protection, but instead have used them to pressure him to quit his protests.
Abu Qatada is described by the BBC as a “radical”.
No such reticence about Tommy Robinson, whose name is usually coupled with tags such as “far-right extremist”, i.e., Nazi.
Qatada enjoys the assistance of a dedicated legal team who have billed the British state to the tune of £800,000 in their untiring pursuit of justice for their client.
Not having advocated racism or the murder of innocents, Tommy Robinson finds little sympathy or support from our finest legal minds.
The difference in their treatment clearly shows which of these two radicals the British authorities find unacceptable.

So Tommy Robinson has been imprisoned for illegal entry into the States.
So Tommy Robinson has been imprisoned for illegal entry into the States.
Are they kidding?
They are not only punishing him more harshly than those convicted of some rapes and racist assaults, they are also convicting him of an offence which is usually regarded as a non-crime and rewarded with a British passport.
In recent years the British government has blamed the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) for blocking Qatada’s removal. But last March the Italians ignored a similar ECHR ruling and deported a suspect back to Tunisia only to be fined just £12,500.
It is said that the British government is reluctant to take similar action to the Italians because of its desire to maintain Britain’s reputation for the rule of law. But if the contemptible treatment of Tommy Robinson proves anything, it is that the British police and government have no respect whatsoever for justice or the rule of law never mind our reputation for it.
Tommy Robinson may be a thug and he may not be the ideal candidate for the hand of your daughter. And as a law and order enthusiast, I say if Tommy Robinson breaks the law, bang him up.
But what has happened in this case is the opposite of justice. The authorities wanted the EDL leader made an example of and not finding any real crime to charge him with passed a message to the police in the vein of, “Who will rid me of this turbulent priest?”
And so the EDL leader is being held as a political prisoner for committing a non-crime after a show trial.
The media, our jurists, and our liberal elites shamefully ignore this disgusting blot on Britain’s reputation for justice.
It’s enough to make you form a group called “The English Defence League” and take to the streets in protest.
Sorry. Somebody has already done that and that is why he has been languishing in solitary confinement since last September.
Another textbook example of the concept of 'anarcho-tyranny'. One protected group is allowed to break the law with impunity, while others are punished to the full extent of the law for minor infractions.
