Don't Push It!

It’s difficult to be nice about the English Defence League (EDL). It’s leaders boorish, uneducated and ignorant though they are, look like the Founding Fathers in comparison to their followers. Every time they show television footage of the latest EDL demonstration, I am overloaded by negative sense impressions: those idiotic painted faces, the shaven heads, their moronic adapted football chants, the ridiculous posturing beer-bellied thugs.  It gives an insight into how the venerable Bede felt about the Norsemen. Indeed, when the EDL come to town they make a Viking raid look like a Morris dance.

That’s why the confrontation of the BBC’s Jeremy Paxman with EDL head, Tommy Robinson, (see above) was so confusing. Surely the confines of a TV studio is one place where the pen would prove mightier than the sword. One would expect that the well-known Paxmoanian learning and his famous caustic impatience with mendacity would expose Tommy as a crude racist thug. And deprived of his intimidating henchmen the EDL head would shrivel under that mesmerizing gaze and maybe even blub for forgiveness.

But it didn’t quite go down like that. The curious thing about the encounter is how vapid and ineffectual the BBC’s champion was. Curiously, Paxo’s only rhetorical device was to keep on bleating several versions of: ‘Do you honestly believe that (something Tommy has many times said he believes)?” and then to huff and puff when the leader of the EDL, who is under constant threat of death from Islamists and continual harassment from the authorities answered: “Yes!”

Now I’m not a Cambridge university debating champ, but it seems to me that the technique of the BBC investigative journalist par excellence was a bit lacking. I’m not even entirely convinced that this intellectual colossus (seven titles available on Amazon!) isn’t just a tiny bit overrated.

Then it struck me where I had seen Paxman’s contemptuous exasperation before. The liberal broadcaster had the look of the cad who despises the lover he has callously wronged.

It’s not always easy being a leftie!

It wasn’t a million years ago that lefties had a torrid romance with the working class. How they loved the overt masculinity, the blunt language and the not suffering of fools. Those lean muscled powerhouses were everything that that ineffectual leftie sophisticates weren’t. They were brave,  they were moraI, even noble (though not so noble you’d let them anywhere near your daughters).

As Orwell summed it up so well in 1984: “If there was hope it must lie in the proles”.

But as Frank Sinatra had it “The affair, it didn’t go so well”. In short, the proles let them down by not revolting and stringing up the capitalists from lampposts. And now a few years down the line as I put it in Liberal Love Child:

Like many of us, “Progressives” are a bit embarrassed now by their first love and in the case of the Liberals’ love affair with the proletariat, it’s not difficult to see why. Two generations of being “helped” by Liberals have robbed them of their self-respect, rotted their morality, annihilated their communities and left a whining remnant whose only aim is to clamp its gums more firmly onto the state’s teat.

The Jesuits have a saying: “Give me a child until he’s seven and I will give you the man.”

The Liberals version is: “Give us a man for seven years and we will give you a spoilt child”

Liberals have now moved on to new romances with women’s groups, gays, ethnic minorities and above all Muslims. The fact that this last group doesn’t seem to like them much in return only adds to the frisson of danger. This group might, just might, be THE ONE. The one, that is , that finally gets down to some serious lamppost danglings.

So to be distracted from this delightful prospect by coming face to face with your old flame is unsettling to say the least.

So as a good liberal, Paxman, couldn’t repress his irrational anger when confronted with his former love. Also given the depths to which that lover has sunk, he couldn’t be bothered even to go through the motions of an objective journalist. What was the point? Surely everybody could, like him, see what a disgusting embarrassment this denizen of the working class was.

And that’s what you see on Paxo’s face. The usually so self-assured, urbane sophisticate who doesn’t turn a hair in conversation with real spokesmen of mass-murder doesn’t even try to conceal his loathing for a man that hasn’t even incited the murder of anyone much less killed anyone himself.

But Paxo and his fellow liberals would do well to consider this: The working class decadent, degraded, and fragmented though it is, has not quite sunk so low as they imagine.

The event which sparked the founding of the EDL is a clue.

In March 2009, a group of Islamists were enabled to taunt and insult a parade of soldiers recently returned from Afghanistan. In the above Newsnight documentary it’s clear that the liberal journalists doubt that it was this which sparked off the EDL. They prefer to think that the “small group of Muslims” was just  the pretext of racists that were already itching to have a go at the benighted Islamic immigrants.

This is because the liberals are blinded by their own barely concealed loathing for our soldiers. How could anyone object to Muslims screaming insults at the “baby killers”? But the working class whatever their faults are still patriotic.

Go on YouTube and watch a few clips of British soldiers fighting for their country. Listen to the accents. The officers still retain or affect the posh accent reminiscent of an earlier age and heard almost nowhere else in modern Britain. But the squaddies, the backbone, speak in the unmistakable vulgar tones of the working class. Heard together, even in the context of a deadly firefight, it’s an amusing combination.

Hundreds of these brave men, our best, have come home in coffins and thousands more have been maimed for life.

And, incidentally, as a further torture the last Labour government closed down the dedicated military hospitals and concentrated care and rehabilitation in large inner city facilities so that after the ordeal of battle some of our soldiers are subjected to hate-filled tirades from Islamo-Nazis in their hospital beds.

With all this in mind the vile insults screamed at their men on their streets were intolerable. And so was the despicable enabling by the British authorities (the Islamists spouted their provocations behind a police honour guard) .

Another illustration of the contempt our soldiers are held in came when they provided security at the wonderfully inclusive London Olympics last year. While making the whole festival possible by preventing a Muslim terrorist atrocity our soldiers were, of course, housed in the usual pigsty grade of accommodation and ordered not to wear uniforms or anything identifying them as British troops. This was to avoid further assaults from local Muslims who had attacked off duty soldiers, presumably out of frustration at the lack of terrorist carnage from their brethren.

So the uniform of a British soldier has been officially recognized as offensive and an unacceptable sight on British streets.

This is what gave rise to the EDL.

Another thing that the Newsnight journalists took pains to communicate to the viewers was that the repeated EDL claims to be non-racist and even in favour of multiculturalism are not to be believed.

Why not give the EDL the benefit of the doubt for these continual assertions of their ideals? If the expression of pacific intent came from a Muslim group the BBC would be performing cartwheels and yodelling with joy. In the incredibly narrow world view of liberals it is quite literally inconceivable that the EDL might mean it.

And here's another thing that although it's completely obvious, would amaze the liberal elite. The working class is much better integrated with our ethnic population than they are themselves. The white working class have lived and worked with them for generations and when Tommy Robinson says that multiculturalism has worked it is this he is referring to.

But life as a leftie is impossible without liberal doses of abject ignorance and hypocrisy. The liberal assumption that the working class are knuckle-dragging racists is pure projection of their own dark secret. It is the liberals who move away from the immigrant areas, the liberals who have few ethnic friends, and the liberals who insist their children be educated in the culture they affect to despise while denying that type of education to the white working class.

And when the liberals point to the violence at EDL protests as proof positive of their intents they are once again willfully misunderstanding what’s going on. Clearly many EDL protestors are looking for trouble, but try to imagine, a non-violent protest against Sharia law or Islamization! It is not going to happen. This is not the Church of England we’re talking about. All criticism of the Muslim religion, never mind protest, is met by a violent, foaming at the mouth, Muslim reaction.

And that’s just the problem.

Also liberals would do well to remember that their craven surrender in the face of deadly threats from Muslim terrorists sends the message to the EDL to turn from its aspirations toward multiculturalism and anti-racism to the only strategy that our elites really respect.

In other words the authorities are begging the EDL to turn to murder in order to be taken seriously. In addition to the likely government indulgence and seats in parliament, it could even result in a respectful interview with Jeremy!

The history of Unionism in Northern Ireland shows the template. The Unionists turned to killing in response to the IRA murders and in the latter years of the terrorist war in Northern Ireland the Loyalists were murdering more than the Provos.

The white working class that built the empire and will fight among themselves in the absence of any other enemy comes from a similar mould to those hard-faced Unionists. Like the Orangemen their way of life and is under threat, and what they believe in is being betrayed. Where they differ (and Dave may like to ponder this) is that there are around 50 times more working class in England than in the Northern Irish protestant community.

That is where the toleration of Islamization and victimization of the white working class is headed.

In the language of the working class they despise, they might like to ponder the words of warning that Sylvester Stallone's character has for the "kingshit cop" in Rambo:

“Don’t push it! Don’t push it! Or I’ll give you a war you won’t believe”

Is that what our liberal elite want?

If they don’t, then I have some advice for them:

“Don’t push it!”

  1. Great article, John. I'll be passing it on. I remember the Paxo interview, & his expression of near-disbelief as he looked at Tommy, 'Can people like this really exist?'Typical of an upper crust beeboid. He'd rather be out with the Muslim Patrol than show the slightest courtesy to a white man not possessed of the correct 'nuanced opinions. A white guy who will not go gently into the muslim night. There are a lot more Tommys than Jeremy imagines.

    1. Thanks for the support.

There are a lot more Tommys out there and they might teach Paxo some manners

  2. Good grief, someone at last understands what is going on, and that is cowardly and utterly ignorant appeasement towards the wretched, violent cult that is Islam. I support the EDL, they are the only bulwark against the stupid left that will sell this country down the river. If the left hate this country and it's history then they are free to leave. At university, all the serious students studied science, engineering, mathematics etc.....the stupid lefties sociology, philosophy, the 'arts' and so on, pathetic. I would study those as a hobby, an aside to engineering, a useful trade. If the EDL manage to attract people of quality, then watch out.

    1. I said it because it's true.

The old working class that was moral, upright and hard working has been almost annihilated by benefits, the loss of their real jobs in productive industries, and the liberal led moral collapse since at least the 60s.

But if you read on you would have seen that I love them just the same.

Also the money is now gone and working class will be able to cope with the tough times coming a whole lot better than the pampered white collar professionals that have had it so good.

    2. As a Born & bred, east Londoner old enough to remember the tough times, you are correct in, we will deal with further tough times easier than the softy Walter liberal progressive useful idiots.

As for Paxman, he can sneer all he wishes, for it is us, who sneer at him & his ilk. We have a solution for his kind, the off switch. He can spout all the excrement he w3ants, we're not listening to him or his pal, Marr. They are of no relevance to our lives & will be swept away ,in the near future.

  4. "English left wing interlectuals are motivated by hatred of their own country" George Orwell.
Recall those upperclass traitors Blunt,Philby ect who aided the Soviets. More out of hatred of England then any belief in communisiam. Later we got the covert sympathy of the, otherwise anti-Catholic, BBC for the IRA.
For the liberal elite any enemy of its enemy England is its friend.Today its Islam out to subject England.

  5. Great quote from Orwell. He's just about the only socialist I can read without a sick bag.

But outside the main stream, I think things might be changing. The lefties at Spiked may be the first cohort of lefties to reach puberty since Orwell.

    1. And of course he was an old Etonian. It could be hard for those with sensitive intelligence not to be a socialist in those days. And he did write Animal Farm and 1984; and yet in spite of them, Leftism persists. One might suspect some genic deletion....

    2. Yes. It's easy to sympathise with some socialists from the 30s and 40s like Orwell. Remembering though how appalled people like Orwell would be about today's lefties and what they've done to the working class.

  8. Thank you for the excellent article, I linked to it. You expose the true nature of the Left, which many still fail to notice. Their goal is not the betterment of society, but domination by all means necessary, even using vile Muslim fanatics.

Just one point - there is hostility towards EDL in the first paragraph. I understand that you contrast their appearance with the goals and ideas they pursue and that becomes very clear further in the text. However, the internet readers are usually in a hurry. They form their opinions within seconds. Reading the first paragraph may turn off many supporters of EDL and stop them from reading the rest of your article, which as I said is excellent.

  9. Thanks for linking the article.

I take your point. The point was to challenge those almost universally held ideas about the EDL.

  10. This is a brilliant article, and thanks to BCF for not only linking to it but for saying "give it a chance", to read past the first paragraph.

The only other interview by Paxman I have seen was the one with Conrad Black. Oh man, was that good. What a smarmy pretentious twirp that Paxman is.

    1. His performance with Ann Coulter was an embarrassment but is worth seeing for comedy value.

Basically, he used his tried and tested formula again and again: "Do you really believe what you said?"

But that only works if the interviewee respects him. Ann doesn't, and reveals our top investigative journalist as distinctly second rate.

  11. Good article. Your up against the BBC, Guardian and a few other left leaning organisations mainly the publicly financed institutions.

They all have one thing in common. They do not have to rely on being better than the competition to get their finances, the rest of us do and hence we are concerned about the state of this country and how it affects our life styles and chances.

  14. Reminds me of the two different reactions during the London riots. One group of people, muslims, were out on patrol "protecting their people and property" and they were praised for doing so. The other group, a white community, was doing exactly the same thing, yet were described on TV and in ndewspaper comments as "vigilantes". Enough said. P.
